Final Blog Post

This Genius Hour Project has been such an adventure. I am able to juggle three balls for several minutes now without dropping. That is an amazing feat from only thinking I could achieve ten seconds in six weeks. Wow! In summary of the project, I learned a new skill, and most importantly never gave up trying. This is a project idea I will teach to my kids. Both learning how to juggle, and having others build their own Genius Hour Projects. What a creative, and independently pleasing learning experience!! Where can I go from here?? Well, I can juggle three balls now, let's try for four!!

This week, I have surpassed my Genius Hour goal of juggling ten seconds. I did it!! Wow, what an exhilarating experience to have achieved my goal already. I will continue to practice my juggling technique and see how long I can juggle for, by the end of my six week period. I found juggling to improve my work ethic, and show such a visually appealing achievement.

This week, I trained with the scarves successfully and was able to reach my goal of ten seconds. I switched back to juggling balls to see if I can achieve my Genius Hour goal. Unfortunately, I was not able to achieve ten seconds but I found my overall skill improved. The fluency of my form and hands were slowly coming together. More research and focus is needed to achieve my goal. If I can add a few more seconds to the total juggle time, I will achieve my goal. I will strive for a further time and see how far I can push myself and my project. Questions I ponder: Would different weighted balls help with learning?

This week, I analyzed videos of jugglers, and started to mimic and practice on my own. I am practicing with scarves as this is an easier alternative to juggling balls straight away. I am grasping an understanding of the form and hand coordination. I learned that juggling revolves around patience and timing alot, and internalizing a constant rhythm. I need to continue to practice with the scarves so I can eventually switch back to juggling balls.

Week 1, the Research

My goals this week are to attempt to juggle, and to research technique. I attempted to juggle but I was not so successful. I have been reviewing an hour worth of videos on how to juggle since the failed practice. The technique, and form I have studied will be put into action in my training next week. I will measure my success depending on how long I can keep the balls juggled in the air.
